The way we value ourselves and perceive our value to others is very important – it affects our self-confidence, self-respect, trust in our own abilities, relationships, work and nearly every part of our lives. Good self-esteem influences the decisions and choices we make. People with high self-esteem are far more likely to look after themselves and be motivated to fulfil personal goals and aspirations. They think positively about themselves and their capabilities and are naturally much happier, more confident and more successful in life.

There are many things which can impact self-esteem, such as confidence, communication, anxiety, depression, body image and literacy, to name a few. People with low self-esteem can feel unworthy, unappreciated, incompetent and less deserving of happy outcomes. But just as these feeling have been learned, they can be unlearned.
