Moving forward after an emotional or physical trauma is important so that you can carry on with your life. Often these events can happen without warning and can be dramatic, violent, shocking or even imagined. We can be left with physical or emotional scars and feel scared, vulnerable and out of control. This can stop us doing things and hold us back. Sometimes, but not always, this is known as PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder).
Emotional & Physical Trauma
Life is not without risk and while we may be able to minimise potential harm, we have to accept that sometimes things happen, which are out of our control. When we are confronted by a ‘risky’ or ‘dangerous’ situation, the ancient ‘fight/flight’ response kicks in. Its purpose is to keep us safe, but sometimes it can remain when it is no longer useful and can cause the mind and body to overreact to situations, which are not actually harmful.
Powerful NLP techniques can be used for all types of trauma, including physical, emotional and sexual assault and abuse, accidents, illness and injury, disasters, war, neglect, bullying, witnessing trauma and many other things. As well as assisting recovery post-trauma, they can also be used before a potentially traumatic event, such as an operation.
Working with a NLP practitioner using effective trauma techniques will allow you to choose how you feel rather than being the victim of events. You will be able to let go of the trauma and live your life again. Relaxation, mindfulness and meditation are of great benefit too and some of these practices may be included in a session.
